![]() Other Preferred areas at other resorts that we've been to made their preferred lounges feel like a private bar/lounge where you could comfortably hang out and enjoy real appetizers. Very "sterile" feeling, very few uncomfortable seats, and very small area. And the special Preferred Lounge on the 21st floor was a joke. Yes, the 12th floor pool and separate bar were a nice touch, but we never enjoyed the pool because it was ice cold. ![]() We thoroughly enjoyed the "newness" of our room, the spa, the gym (incredible-state of the art equipment), and the overall campus. We have stayed about 5 times in the Riveria Maya area, always at all-inclusives. My wife and I stayed at The Vine for 7 days/nights during Thanksgiving week and paid extra for the Preferred Club. And again, kudos to the 25th floor's butler Vanessa, for her tremendous customer service. ![]() This is meant to be a "first impression" post. In talking with other guests, we've run into a number of people who were given courtesy upgrades, and they aren't celebrating a significant anniversary. And while we certainly didn't expect an upgrade, it would have been nice if one had been extended, if available. It would have been nice to start off our celebration being ushered into a nice room with the pillows and rum we'd requested, on the side of the hotel we'd asked for. But really, to have the room debacle, sets up the stay on a really bad first impression. Hopefully he can arrange for the issues that should have been taken care of prior to our arrival. It's from their list they provided us.) The good news is that our butler is Cesar, who other TA posters have said is superb. (It's not some sort of exotic rum that we dreamed up. That they tell you what kind of rum you can request in the room, and then no one can seem to be able to procure it. It's very disconcerting that the new Secrets doesn't even acknowledge the travel arrangements you made prior to check-in. BTW while at Maroma, they'd offered us a free upgrade at check-in. We'd cancelled our stay at their Cancun property, which we've been to many times, to try Secrets, having been former guests at their Maroma property. We are platinum members at the JW Marriott - always given a suite upgrade. At check-in we were told we could pay for something if we were interested. When we made the reservation for a junior preferred suite, we were told that if an upgrade was available, they would try to accommodate us, given our anniversary. There's been no acknowledgement of our anniversary. But we've still not received the rum the concierge told us was availabe and it seems to be some sort of big issue. A lovely butler, Vanessa, recognized that we were very upset, and did her best to secure a room for us on the side of the building not in the sun. To travel all this way, spend all this money, and find that our requests have been ignored is extremely disconcerting. Well this request also seems to be something they can't fulfill. So we selected a specific brand and asked that our minifridge include this type rum. When we'd requested info regarding what kinds of rum are available in the room, the e-concierge had kindly sent us a list to choose from. We'd actually sent 2 emails confirming our requests regarding our stay. When I asked about our specific requests which had been made, the fellow at the check-in desk, the "special" check in on the 21st floor for "special guest" just looked at us blankly and said our email did not show up in connection with our account which he was looking at. Well when we checked in, we were told that our room was on the 26th floor, on the side in the sun. We chose which we wanted, then put this request in writing. We asked the concierge what types of rum are available. We also requested NOT to be on the 26th floor. We contacted the hotel in advance, requested specific accommodation needs, asking to be located on north side of property due to issues with the sun. Our original stay was postponed when the hotel did not open as scheduled. We are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. This property has billed itself as high-end, both in service and amenities, and food and liquor. We arrived yesterday at the newest Secrets property, The Vine, Cancun.

![]() If you prefer a basic hair tie (i.e., not a scrunchie, ribbon, or coil), this is the best of the ones we tested, but it’s not without flaws. The Goody Ouchless elastics most closely resemble the rubber bands I grew up wearing in my hair. Still, if you’re after a coil hair tie, I noticed these same faults with all of the others, so I feel confident that Kitsch is the best you’ll get. This product lost points for comfort factors because it tugged a bit when I pulled it out of my hair and it was too tight to wear comfortably around my wrist. While I wouldn’t say any of them match my hair color, they blend in and look unobtrusive enough if you’re going for an understated look. These coils I tested came in four shades designed to match brunette hair (there's also a set for blondes, as well as a pack of clear coils). And, as promised, there were no creases at the end of a long day of wear in my freshly blown-out hair (i.e., when it’s most likely to crease). Two turns around the hair were enough to hold my hair snugly enough for daily wear, while a third turn was preferable for exercise. Plus, the coils hold hair in place well, so you don’t have to stretch the hair tie to its full capacity for a good grip. Though they have a finite stretch due to their plastic material, they are surprisingly malleable. In terms of function, the Kitsch Spiral Hair Coils promise to be “kind on hair, hold hair in place, and leave no marks or creases.” Overall, the product delivered. The Lululemon Skinny Scrunchies come in packs of six containing multiple color combinations from neutrals to vibrant hues. The only time some hair escaped was while I slept, but that’s a very common occurrence for my slippery, straight locks, no matter what type of hair tie I use. Throughout the day, which included a Peloton ride, a walk outside, and everyday housework, I didn’t experience any slippage. As a nice bonus, the Lululemon scrunchie sits loosely on my wrist-not loose enough to fall off, but not tight enough to leave an indent. And because there are no grommets or hardware, the tie doesn’t snag at all when you slip it out of your hair, either. Though it only stretches to a certain point because of its fabric construction, it stretched well enough to wrap around my hair three times, creating a hold that was nice and strong, but with no strain. ![]() The hair tie proved to be very comfortable during both wake and sleeping hours, too. The material feels similar to breakaway athletic pants-soft but textured and slightly water-resistant. Knowing Lululemon is a go-to for active individuals, I wondered if the benefits may justify the price.Īt first glance, the hair ties look very well constructed. Now you can stop worrying about damaging your hair, and maybe start worrying about getting your taxes in order.Though undoubtedly pricey, these scrunchies intrigued me because they promise to “stay put while reducing hair breakage,” and slipping is something I often have trouble with, especially during exercise. Here, I'll run you through three of the best hair ties to prevent breakage, depending on your hair type. In fact, people with all hair types might want to steer clear of traditional elastic bands entirely, and instead go for telephone-cord spiral ties that leave no dents or damage to speak of. ![]() People with curly hair might opt for a bungee or snap-closure band that won’t dent tight curl patterns. But nix the metal clasp, which can catch, and eventually pull out, stray strands. If you’re after a strong but safe hold, go for a band with a grippable coating. And as a general rule, the smoother the coating, the less it’ll snag, so silk hair ties or scrunchies are ideal for people with damaged, thin, or fragile hair. (Also kind of like death and taxes.) Using the wrong kind of hair tie can leave your hair dented, snagged, and broken - and too-tight holds with elastic hair ties are really bad for your hair, which can cause headaches, balding, and receding hairlines - all of which the best hair ties to prevent breakage will definitely not do.Įlastic hair ties that won't cause damage are always coated, since exposing hair to pure elastic is a hard no. But as much as we can’t live without them, hair ties can also be harbingers of destruction. As Benjamin Franklin once said, nothing is certain in this world other than death, taxes, and that hair tie on your wrist (kidding, of course). ![]() You just need to give them your tracking number and they will give you the latest update of your shipment in return. For three hours daily, five days a week, Limbaugh weaves his opinion with a sense of humor, sarcasm, and a confident voice that sounds accurate and authoritative, even if the facts he recites are often far from correct. There are rare guests - occasionally Vice President Dick Cheney or other Republican officials drop in for a interview. Callers are pre-screened few who disagree with the host are allowed on the air. Limbaugh backs conservative causes without any exceptions - he supports capital punishment, opposes abortion, claims that global warming is a lie, etc. He had his own half-hour syndicated TV show from 1992-96, produced by Republican operative and later CEO of Fox News Roger Ailes and filmed in front of studio audiences pre-screened to be friendly to his conservative perspectives. When substituting for Pat Sajak in a 1990 episode of Sajak's ill-fated late night talk show, he was heckled and booed by the studio audience after he made anti-gay comments, until the auditorium was emptied, leaving Limbaugh to finish the show in front of hundreds of empty seats. He is heard on about 600 stations nationwide, with little room for further growth - there is no major market area where his program cannot be heard. Limbaugh is now syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, which is owned by Clear Channel Communications. Freed from any requirement to air rebuttals to provocative opinions, Limbaugh's radio style suddenly looked much more profitable, and within months he left Sacramento and signed with the ABC Radio Network, which syndicated his show from New York. Limbaugh's biggest break came in 1987, when the Federal Communications Commission repealed its Fairness Doctrine, a rule that had required radio and television stations to provide equal time to both sides of political debates. In telling the story of his success, Limbaugh occasionally mentions Woodruff's help, but he never mentions that Woodruff was openly gay, and died of AIDS in the 1980s. His ratings were better than Downey's, putting Limbaugh's career back on track. The station decided to take a chance, putting Limbaugh on in what had been Morton Downey, Jr.'s time slot. Woodruff even took Limbaugh shopping for clothes, improving his appearance to make a better impression on KFBK brass. Limbaugh's radio career was revived by Norm Woodruff, a San Francisco radio executive who urged friends at Sacramento's KFBK to hire him at a time when he was essentially unknown in the radio business. Frustrated at his lack of success, he left radio, and took a job selling tickets for the Kansas City Royals baseball team. Several times over several years he was fired for making too many, too rude political comments. He quickly moved to a bigger station in Pittsburgh, where he worked as "Jeff Christie", and then to Kansas City, where he used his real name. ![]() He started in radio as a disc jockey on his home town's KGMO (part-owned by Limbaugh's father) while he was still in high school, using the on-air name "Rusty Sharpe." He dropped out of college, and eventually landed a job as a morning disc jockey at a small top-40 radio station in McKeesport, PA, near Pittsburgh. His brother, David Limbaugh, is a lawyer and conservative writer. His father was a prominent local attorney, who imbued his children with conservative ideology. His uncle, Stephen Limbaugh, was appointed federal judge by Ronald Reagan, and his cousin, Stephen Limbaugh Jr, was appointed to the U.S. His grandfather, the first Rush Hudson Limbaugh, was America's Ambassador to India in the Eisenhower administration.
